Alongside teachers Zorica Ivković and Aleksandra Ivezić, two first grade classes – I/1 “Knez Lazar” elementary school from Lazarevac and I/3 “Ivo Andrić” elementary school from Belgrade – have been awarded the second and third place in the “Let’s get our children active” contest, held for the second time by a program that goes by the same name. Through determination and daily exercises, they won a field trips for their whole class, along with packages containing sports related props for physical activities, available for use by all students in the school, while the teachers won travel vouchers. The program representatives visited them in order to thank them for their participation and hand out their diplomas. The program is in the process of introducing additional every day physical education for students in grades one through four – with brands Aqua Viva and the Serbian Association of Physical Education Teachers and Sports.
“Our winners have shown that besides positively impacting good form and health, regular physical activity fills classrooms with laughter, builds friendships, and makes learning easier. We are especially grateful to the teachers, for they have created a foundation for healthy habits in life – to be active every day – to every student in just a few months”, stated Milana Petrović, public and corporate affairs manager for Knjaz Miloš.
The “Let’s get our children active” program aspires to prevent poor posture, deformities of the spine, and inactive lifestyles in children. Within the program, a contest is held every year, during which a total of 36 classes build on contemporary and effective elements of exercise, while the best classes and teachers win the aforementioned main awards.
