This year’s winner of the “Let’s get our children active” contest is the III/2 class from elementary school “Miloje Zakić”, from Kuršumlija, along with their teacher Svetlana Stanković. With effort, proper form in exercises, and creativity in designing their own exercises, this class has set itself apart from other participants of the contest, and rightfully earned its place as the victor. Besides the diploma, which is provided by the representatives of Aqua Viva and the Serbian Association of Physical Education Teachers and Sports, the winning class was awarded a seven day long recreative course in Divčibare, as well as a set of various props for physical activities to be used by the entire school. The teacher was awarded with a voucher for personal travel.
“This year, a large number of classes from schools across Serbia applied to participate in the contest. Pupils of this class earned their victory among exceptional competition. They demonstrated commitment, practice, and systematic everyday exercises, and more importantly, the joy and laughter of the pupils on videos and images showed us that the suggested physical activities build good habits, friendships and a team spirit within the classroom, as we saw in person today”, stated Nevena Jovanović, PR specialist for Knjaz Miloš.
The “Let’s get our children active” program introduces additional daily 15-minute physical activities to all elementary schools in Serbia, for students from the first to fourth grade, with the core goal of promoting health and physical activities, as well as preventing and correcting deformities brought on by inactivity and sedentary lifestyles in children. Within the scope of the program, an annual contest is held where a total of 36 classes win modern and incentive props for exercising, while the best classes and teachers win the main awards: recreative classes, excursions, and travel voucher.
